DAY 2: COWS??!?

COWS??!?

Dear Friend,

First off, have you read the book "Perks of Being a Wallflower"?  If not, check it out.  I've read it probably a dozen times.  My all time favourite book.

Now onto...COWS??!?  Yep...cows.  Why? I have no idea.   I like to play with irony in my pieces.  Opposites.  Clashings.  I like to bring things that are absolutely non-urban and mixed them with urban elements.  This week I have been in the studio all day and night and will be continuing this through next week.  I am working on a final project for my advanced printmaking class that is going to be a mixed media piece.  The first thing I knew I wanted to do was an abstract monoprint and cows..a row of 4 cows.  Not only those things, thwy were just the first two things I knew I wanted to bring together.  So...tonight I was looking up some things that are obvious about the cow and a few other facts for my project.  So far, this is what I know.

A cow is a female of a bovine animal.
Cow is symbolic for Mother Earth, fertility, nurturing and power.
The number 4 is symbolic for stability, grounded nature.  e.g. 4 seasons. 4 directions.
Didn't know you were going to be educated in cows when you read this, did you?
If I like the way my final turns out I will post pics in a couple of weeks.
Have an awesome night!

Sincerely,
Angeles

Mixed Media:  Photo Litho, masking tape, tracing paper, found paper, acrylic, pen

  1. When I was a teenager someone told me "you see a cow ever day" I started looking around and I did. A actual cow, something with a cow pattern. It may have helped that I was living in Texas.... I no longer watch for my daily cow....
